Ezkal is a new brand focused on curating the best Latin American designs and was formed out of the belief that beautiful products must not just stand for quality fit and looks, but our products must be born from a sustainable model that represents our brand quality.  We have a strong belief in sustainability, the environment and ethical practices. We’ve developed a set of core principles that guide everything we do. We are proud to only work with partners whose values, commitment to the sustainability and business practices align with our own.

What problem is your business solving?

High end, sustainable handmade Latin American brands have never been represented well in Australia, largely due to the logistics and high export tariffs. As we have a Mexican office, we can manage this process and quality control unlike other companies.  The result is stunning handmade products Direct to our customers address in a few days.  

Tell us three unique things about your business:

1. Every part of our products is handmade and designed in Latin America. Including our unique coconut bags for our swimwear packaging, 100% recycled cotton bags, boxes and labels. Even our business cards are made in Mexico! 
2. For every swimwear purchased we plant a tree on your behalf in areas badly affected by deforestation in Colombia. To date, the programme has planted over 10,000 trees and counting daily.
3. We use traditional techniques such as the pedal loom, hand-knitting and antique textiles to hand made our cover ups in Mexico incorporating plant-based dyes. As a result, each one is unique.
   

What can attendees expect to see from you at TCS?

Colour! Contemporary designs, and high quality and range of products. Our swimwear designs are so flattering and different from anything you have worn before, wait to touch the softest fabrics. The coconut bags that we include with every swimwear purchase has been a huge hit and always make our customers smile.

Our versatile resort wear can be used for a beach day, Sunday lunch or a night out. They are handmade, dyed one by one and we incorporate pieces from up-cycled materials to avoid waste.

Can you tell us a little about your background and where the inspiration came from for your business?

As the founder of the business, and a qualified architect born in México. I have always been surrounded and exposed to design, colour and textures. Since my early 20’s I lived overseas in Valencia and Ibiza before making Australia my permanent home. I always wanted to show to the rest of the world my roots, the amazing designers and the quality of the products Latin America has to offer. 

I believe that beautiful products must not just stand for quality fit quality and looks, but our products must be born from a sustainable model that respects the environment and give back to earth.
