The Five Best Meditation Apps For A More Mindful Life

To celebrate the launch of this month’s Conscious Curator series with Dr Elise Bialylew – founder of the world’s largest online global online meditation movement Mindful In May – we’ve put together a round-up of our favourite apps and online programmes for mindfulness and meditation.

Heavily Meditated

Heavily Meditated is the book, app and online platform from author, speaker and meditation expert Caitlin Caddy. Caitlin was motivated to explore the path of meditation after battling with Lyme Disease and years of mental health challenges, and aware of the positive impact it can have on mental and physical health, has dedicated her creative and professional life to helping others access the benefits of meditation. Caitlin’s book Heavily Meditated provides a practical guide to incorporating meditation and mindfulness into your days, and the recently launched app makes the perfect companion: a collection of guided meditations for every occasion – from full moons to Monday mornings – as well as customisable intention setting options and daily inspiration.

Insight Timer App with Kimberley Chan

If you’re looking for a free stock of guided meditations, Insight Timer is the app for you: a library of over 95,000 guided meditations from Australia’s best meditation teachers. Our personal favourite meditations on the Insight Timer app come from Sydney based teacher Kimberley Chan – whose training in Vedic Meditation and Buddhist upbringing inspire a series of expansive, infinitely calming meditations.

Soul Alive Meditation

Soul Alive Meditation is a virtual meditation studio, with daily meditations led by Luke McLeod (speaker, meditation teacher and host of Show Me Your Soul podcast), Eliza Hayward (empowerment coach, Yoga and meditation teacher and founder of Divine Flow Yoga) and Arjanna Chitranjan (medical scientist, meditation teacher and endurance athlete). We fell in love with the Soul Alive approach when Luke led a guided meditation at TCS Sydney in March, and spoke on the main stage about how meditation can improve our connection to ourselves. Alongside the live meditations which foster a sense of community and harness the power of collective consciousness, Soul Alive is home to a library of on demand podcasts, and a portal for members to share their thoughts and experiences.

Ten Percent Happier

The Ten Percent Happier app is home to a bank of guided meditations from the world’s leading meditation teachers, and is a good place to start if you think meditation isn’t for you. The guided meditations take the playful, accessible approach put forward by Dan Harris in his book and podcast of the same name, and the talks and videos available on the app back up the meditations with additional insights, research and reflections from leaders in the space.

Buddhify

Buddhify is a family run business designed to fit into, not alongside, busy modern lives. The expansive, grounding guided meditations are designed to be played in various (sometimes stressful) settings – from airports to supermarkets – and help users achieve the benefits of mindfulness whilst on the go.
