When we asked the team behind Happy Spaces co-working space to share a little insight into office culture, they responded a few hours later, with the disclaimer “sorry for the delay, I was surfing!”. The ability to incorporate an activity that lights you up into your daily work schedule is a perfect exemplification of the Happy Spaces ethos. Matty Lawrence, Founder & Director of the Torquay born, B Corp certified co-working organisation, explains:
“We launched our spaces in local villages so you can work close to home, gain back valuable hours of your life everyday, connect to your community and connect with others. There’s plenty happening out there in our local communities; great people, exciting businesses, activities and events.
Big things happen in small spaces. We base our spaces on optimal community sizes, because it’s proven to naturally create relationships, collaboration, productivity, creativity and new opportunities.”
Matty also explained that, as a certified B Corp, Happy Spaces is automatically connected to a global community of over 4,000 organisations dedicated to using business as a force for good (leading to brands such Patagonia, Bellroy and Cherished Pets joining the Happy Spaces community spaces). “Anything can happen, we’ve seen it.” Matty explained, and pointed us to the Happy Spaces short video for an idea of what can grow from supportive creative communities.
