Peacelily is Australia’s premiere sustainable sleep company. Our aim is to increase the sleep quality of all Australians through the use of sustainable products. We want to improve the health of both people and the environment hand in hand.
We manufacture high quality, yet affordable, non-toxic products made from natural latex and covered with certified organic cotton. Our products use sustainable materials and contain no polyurethane foams, memory foams, chemical flame retardants, or harmful chemical adhesives.
Our mission is to provide you with a blissful sleep experience. We truly believe that a healthy night’s sleep is the key to a healthy life.
Peacelily wants to primarily provide a complete sleep solution that is safe and natural. We want to provide a healthier option than synthetic materials like memory foam, which contain toxic chemicals and can break down, creating harmful off-gassing. Memory foam also has a short life span and encourages the purchase of throwaway mattress every ten years. With the inherently durable and resilient nature of latex, a mattress purely made from this material such as Peacelily, will not sag and hold its shape for decades.
Attendees can expect a sensory introduction to our beautifully handcrafted products and a first hand experience of our exceptional customer service.
I was consulting for a bedding company when I was 21 and during the time that I was doing this, I noticed that the majority of the industry seemed to be focused on selling product and increasing sales despite what the customers might really need. In essence it was not about the sleep quality of customers, and I was of the perspective that a bedding company is the ideal place to be helping out the everyday person with their sleep and how they can further improve it. As I began to research the industry, I realised that there were a few common types of materials that were used in mattresses, but natural latex came out on top of the other materials by far. Not only did natural latex perform amazingly in terms of comfort, it was far more durable (with some latex mattresses lasting up to 50 years) and also much friendlier to the environment. Quite soon after this I found that Sri Lanka was one of the top countries to source natural latex. Given my Sri Lankan background, it became even clearer that I can marry my heritage with my vision.
My experience with meditation led me to understand the importance of giving your mind and body time to rest, and good quality sleep I felt was a natural flow on from this. The key to good sleep is having both a clear head space, good habits and a comfortable sleeping environment and I thought I could effectively merge the mental and physical aspects together. My Engineering background led me to want to explore the manufacturing of the products, to set up our own factory and to ensure our product quality was as high as possible, while my interest in meditation led me to remain keenly focused on trying to improve the sleep quality and health of our customers.
