About Tumbleweed

Tumbleweed is an Australian family-owned business that designs and manufactures products from 100% recycled plastic. We strive to make a significant contribution to our earth’s environmental sustainability by making innovative products that encourage consumers of all ages to reduce, re-use and recycle organic waste

Tell us three things unique about your business:
1. We are a 100% Australian-owned family business
2. We manufacture our products right here in Australia, from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic
3. We design products to help people to live sustainably by managing their organic waste at home
Can you tell us a little about your background and where the inspiration came from for your business?
Australian Councils were looking for ways to reduce the burden of managing organic waste in their processing facilities, and were seeking at-home recycling solutions. On average, foodwaste makes up almost half of all household waste thrown away. Tumbleweed started actively working with Councils to develop home-based composting alternatives to divert organic waste from landfill.
In the last 25 years, households have diverted over 1200 Olympic sized swimming pools of organic waste from landfill, using composting and worm farming products at home. That’s 3,000,000 tonnes of organic waste!
From the very beginning, we have been designing products to recycle single use plastic to give waste materials that were destined for landfill a new, long term second life. The community has also championed this philosophy by sharing stories of handing our products down through generations. Our passion is to educate the global community on how simple and easy it is to recycle organic waste at home.
